The Georgia State Staff Council had the privilege of touring the Recycling Center at the Georgia State Center Parc Stadium thanks to Susan Fitzgerald Skeen. Skeen is a member of the Staff Council’s Campus Sustainability Committee. Members of the college’s Staff Council who also serve on the university level brought back the following information.

Did you know that the Department of Sustainability will take care of shredding your confidential documents (see information below and in the shredding link)? They will also recycle your toner cartridges.
Jennifer Wilson, the manager of Sustainability Initiatives, informed us that Georgia State is getting away from single-stream recycling because certain items will contaminate and degrade the value of the recyclables. Therefore, we will be receiving new bins so that we may separate out recyclables properly (see photos below).
There is also an amazing freight farm at Piedmont North and another recycling center. The Freight Farm is where they literally use a freight container (photos below) and grow plants vertically with grow lights.
