Hayden-Waltz Doctoral Dissertation Award nominations are now open

The Hayden-Waltz Doctoral Dissertation Award is established by alumni Dr. Melvin Hayden and Dr. Lucy Welzant Hayden to honor their parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Waldo Hayden, Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Millart Waltz. This $1,000 award is presented to a doctoral student whose dissertation exhibits originality, clarity and effectiveness in the presentation of ideas, quality writing and contributes to the future scholarly productivity of his or her field.

Deadline for nominations:  February 15, 2017

Requirements:

  1. Doctoral student with an approved dissertation prospectus,
  2. Letter of nomination to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research from the student’s dissertation chair addressing the intent of the scholarship (originality, clarity and effectiveness in the presentation of ideas, quality writing and contributes to the future scholarly productivity of his or her field),
  3. Student’s curriculum vita,
  4. Not based on financial need,
  5. Nominations will be accepted through February 15.
